| How to Implement the Program |
|
- Contact Curtis Myers, the YMCA Model United
Nations Program Director via email at curtism@ymca-bc.org or
via phone (609) 351-8449 to inform him of
your intent to participate and begin to recruit
students for the program. We recommend
at least six (6) students to form a delegation.
- Submit the “Delegation Enrollment Form” along with a credential (our permission slip –signed by parent & advisor) and $100 deposit per student & teacher. This indicates the number of students that are committed to participating in the program. The Y-MUN program staff will send your committee & country assignments to you via email.
- Advisors should notify each student of their assigned committee & country (assign only one student to each committee/country role).
Each student completes:
-
Country Data
Sheet
(Two page summary of general country information)-this is for student review, it is not submitted to the program office.
- “Position Paper” (Two page summary of country’s position on the committee topics)-this is forwarded to the program office as Microsoft Word files and placed in folders by committee. This should be sent via a CD-rom to the program office. Specialized committees (ICC; ICJ; NBC, HSC and press corps) have alternative assignments.
- Each delegation should assign one (1) student per twenty (20) participants to the Youth Secretariat. These students serve as the delegation leader for your school/YMCA. Advisors & Youth Secretariat members should attend (or host) a regional training during September-October.
- Advisors complete the “Delegation Roster & Hotel Reservation Form” and submit along with position papers, Secretary General Candidate Form, and program fees by November 1st.
- Each student then prepares a Draft Resolution (document outlines the salient facts a country needs in the conference resolutions). All Draft Resolutions, ICC/ICJ briefs, Delegation Ballots and updated forms are due by December 10th.
- Come to Hershey, PA January 9-11, 2009 with an open mind and willingness to learn & have fun. Conference registration begins on Friday at 9am.
